Why Choose our Kindergarten in Hamala?

The Infant School is a safe, secure and happy environment where diversity is celebrated and where, as one student put it, "We look after one another".

Although teaching and learning is taken very seriously indeed, there is no doubt that a sense of humour is a vital component of the Infant School's ethos. Children are very much treated as individuals with their own strengths, weaknesses and quirks. Teachers are approachable and genuinely interested in children. It would be rare to see any teacher or assistant crossing the playground at break time without stopping for an informal chat with a group of children.

By the time they move up to the Junior School children are secure in themselves as individuals, enthusiastic collaboration and open communication. Visitors to the school often comment that children come across as sociable, unspoiled and in some ways refreshingly unsophisticated.

Nursery & Reception

When they embark on their BSB journey in their Nursery year, children learn to think, reason and explore through play. They are scaffolded, supported and challenged by caring, experienced teachers to primarly develop their social skills, language and physical development. When ready, children are stretched in literacy, maths, creative art and understanding of the world. A spirit of enquiry is encouraged and permeates the Infant School. A rigorous pre-reading curriculum in Nursery, prepares children for high attainment in reading in their Reception year.

Kindergarten Environment

It is important that every child in our care experiences a vibrant, welcoming and exciting Kindergarten environment. Youngsters learn best when they are comfortable and well-cared for, and we seek to make every learner feel as special as they are. Our setting offers a fantastic range of modern resources and equipment to stimulate the minds of young adventurers as they begin to explore the world around them and as one of the primary points of references for children in early years education. Our Kindergarten is an ideal option for families seeking a safe and creative preschool.

Pastoral Support

We pride ourselves on the pastoral care our young students receive at the Kindergarten stage and beyond. In addition to the 300 BSB staff responsible for caring for those in our student community, three dedicated school counsellors support the well-being of each of our learners.

House System

Kindergarten students are assigned to one of our four houses upon admission to the school. Children may join Dragon, Griffin, Pegasus or Phoenix. Siblings are placed together to provide a sense of belonging and a platform for healthy competition across the school.

Each department contributes to the inter-house programme, ensuring a wide range of opportunities to suit all interests. Our annual sports day is the biggest celebration of our house system, where students can compete for and support their house across a full day of activities.
