The British School of Bahrain’s Infant School is undergoing an exciting transformation, Project Tofl. The project is set to revolutionise the entire Infant School at BSB and create state-of-the-art learning environments for all students.

Project Tofl, named after the Arabic word for child and reflecting the school’s child-centric ethos, is the largest redevelopment of the school’s learning spaces in the last decade and reflects the school’s reputation as the leading educational establishment in the country. BSB has engaged a leading global school designer based in Milan, Italy, to create learning spaces that support outstanding teaching and learning for the future. The Italian designer has created inspirational bespoke designs for each classroom that reflect the Reggio Emilia approach.

The design incorporates a range of features to create state-of-the-art, child-centred learning environments. The natural wooden cupboards, bespoke-designed fittings in the bathrooms, calming colours, and individually designed classrooms all work together to create an inspiring and engaging learning environment for the children.

The first phase of the project, which focused on transforming the outdoor learning spaces, was successfully completed in December 2022. The second phase, which involves the complete transformation of the Nursery and Reception classrooms, bathrooms, and corridors, is expected to be completed by the summer of August 2023. The third phase involves entire renovations of the Year 1 and Year 2 classrooms and corridors, including the BSB Arabic Hub and Sports Hall, and the completion date will be confirmed soon.
