The British School of Bahrain Celebrates Its Multicultural Community at its largest BSB International Family Fair ever.

With over 92 nationalities at the British School of Bahrain (BSB), the school is already renowned for being the most inclusive school within Bahrain and probably the wider Gulf Region. The annual BSB International Family Fair (IFF) was another opportunity to showcase and celebrate the different cultures that make up the communities within Bahrain.

On Friday, February 24th, 2023, almost 4000 people came from across the country to join in celebrations of culture and community and in doing so raise funds for the Syria and Turkey Earthquake appeals. The fair was a fun-filled day for families, with activities including cultural experiences organised by BSB parents, games, raffle prizes, live cultural performances, local market stalls, and food trucks.

The school was delighted to host representatives from eight separate embassies within Bahrain. Following the recent events, it was an honour to welcome the Turkish Ambassador who fully endorsed the good work of the school, the BSB community and the BSB parents. Over 30 countries took a stall at the fair, which allowed them to showcase their cultures, cuisines and heritage to all of the visitors. At the centre of the event was a stage where music, dancing and songs from around the world could be performed, one of the highlights of which was the Dabke from the Palestinian dancers.

The school community was thrilled to have such a successful turnout, with thousands of families attending and participating in the festivities. The International Family Fair was a chance for families to come together, enjoy the company of one another, and learn about different cultures in a fun and interactive way.

"The BSB International Family Fair is always a highlight in the annual calendar and this year’s IFF was a memorable one. THe BSB parents and communities came together to create a fantastic atmosphere for everyone to enjoy learning about different countries and cultures. The day epitomised three key parts of the BSB ethos, community, inclusivity and charity, and I am enormously grateful for all the parents and staff who made such a great day happen”
- John Maguire, Executive Headmaster

The British School of Bahrain is committed to celebrating cultural diversity and fostering a sense of community amongst its students, families, and staff. The success of the International Family Fair is a testament to the school’s commitment to these values, and the entire BSB community looks forward to future events that celebrate the rich diversity of culture that make up the BSB community.
